Drowning - Ellery Creek Big Hole

Northern Territory Police are investigating following the drowning death of a 25-year-old woman at Ellery Creek Big Hole, west of Alice Springs this afternoon.

About 12:50pm, The Joint Emergency Services Communications Centre received reports that CPR was being performed on a woman at the popular tourist site.

St John Ambulance attended and took over life-saving efforts however, she was unable to be revived.

Ntaria Police have established a crime scene at the site and Northern Territory Parks and Wildlife rangers are also in attendance, with the area closed to the public while detectives from Alice Springs investigate.

Northern Territory Police urge all visitors to take care around waterways and follow all safety advice when visiting remote locations.
