Drowning, Mermaid Beach

Police will prepare a report for the Coroner after a man drowned at Mermaid Beach on the Gold Coast this morning.

Around 7.50am, a 34-year-old man from Victoria was pulled unconscious from the water by a member of the public.

Surf Lifesavers performed CPR on the man before emergency responders arrived.

Police and Queensland Ambulance Service attended the scene where paramedics continued CPR, however he was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The death is not being treated as suspicious.

Police are reminding swimmers to be mindful of the weather conditions before entering the water and to always follow the advice of Surf Lifesavers.
