Drug And Firearm Arrests, West End

Officers from Riverside and Upper Mount Gravatt Tactical Crime Squad have charged three people with drug and firearm offences following the execution of a search warrant at West End last week.

The officers attended a Crowther Street unit on Wednesday 21 January and, with the assistance of the dog squad, allegedly located a quantity of methylamphetamine and a sum of money.

It will also be alleged that one of the occupants threw a loaded firearm off the balcony when police entered the premises.

A 42-year-old Carina Heights man has been charged with one count each of unlawful possession of Category D/H/R weapon, authority required to possess explosives, possessing dangerous drugs Schedule 1 drug quantity exceeds Schedule 3 but less than Schedule 4, possession of property suspected of being proceeds of offence under Drugs Misuse Act and obstruct police officer.

He is due to reappear in Brisbane Magistrates Court on 28 January.

A 50-year-old West End man and a 31-year-old Carindale woman have been charged with a total of 13 offences including one count each of possessing dangerous drugs Schedule 1 drug quantity exceeds Schedule 3 but less than Schedule 4, possession of property suspected of being proceeds of offence under Drugs Misuse Act, possessing relevant substances of things and receiving tainted property.

The woman is expected to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court on 10 March.

The man, who has also been charged with obstruct police, is expected to reappear in Brisbane Magistrates Court on 16 February.
