Drug and firearm offences in the states Mid North, SA

Eight people will face court and three men were fined after police from Yorke Mid North Local Service Area conducted numerous drug raids across the Yorke Peninsula and Mid North areas of the State over the past three days, according to SA Police.

Homes and properties searched on the Yorke Peninsula resulted in a 37-year-old old man being reported for cultivating cannabis after nine cannabis plants were found growing at his home address. Another man, a 44-year-old, was reported for possessing prescribed equipment after hydroponics equipment was seized from his home. A further two men from the Yorke Peninsula were issued with cannabis expiation notices and a drug diversion for simple possession offences.

In the Mid North, two men were arrested, three men were reported and one man fined for numerous drug and weapons offences.

Police attended and searched a home in the Mid North yesterday where they will allege they located a large amount of cannabis, several firearms and a large amount of cash.

A 49-year-old man and 62-year-old man, both from the States Mid North, were arrested and charged with trafficking a commercial quantity of a controlled drug.One of those men was also charged with firearms offences including possess unlicenced firearm, possess loaded firearm, possess prescribed firearm, insecure firearms and unlawful possession of cash. Both men were refused bail and will appear in the Port Pirie Magistrates Court today.
