Drug and weapon charges, North Mackay

Police have charged a 28-year-old man with multiple weapon and drug offences after executing a search at a North Mackay residence yesterday (April 14).

Detectives from Mackay Criminal Investigation Branch searched the Canberra Street address where they allegedly located a quantity of methylamphetamine, fireworks, drug utensils, ammunition, as well as a rifle and approximately $20,000 cash.

The 28-year-old North Mackay man was charged with three counts of unlawful possession of a weapon, two counts of possess dangerous drugs and possess utensils, and one count each of authority required to possess explosives (fireworks), burglary, possess weapon with altered identification, possess restricted items, receiving or possessing property obtained from trafficking, receiving tainted property, stealing a vehicle, and supplying dangerous drugs.

Police will allege the man also received property from a break and enter on a Blacks Beach residence on April 3 where a red Honda motorbike was stolen.

He was denied police bail and will appear in the Mackay Magistrates Court today (April 15).

An 18-year-old North Mackay woman was also issued a Notice to Appear on one count of possess utensil.
