Drug charge, Surfers Paradise 18 April

Detectives from Gold Coast Major and Organised Crime Squad (MOCS) have charged a 17-year-old male after 3kg of methylamphetamine were allegedly located in a vehicle at Surfers Paradise on April 4.

At 8pm on the Gold Coast Highway near Remembrance Drive, police intercepted a blue Toyota Corolla.

It will be alleged officers located three 1kg packages alleged to be methylamphetamine inside a duffle bag within the vehicle.

The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, a 17-year-old Biggera Waters male, has been charged one count each of possessing dangerous drugs and possess things used in commission of a drug offence (phone), and will appear before the Southport Children's Court.

The arrest forms part of an ongoing joint investigation with New South Wales (NSW) Police Force, targeting an alleged cross-border drug syndicate.

NSW Police yesterday stopped a vehicle at Nabiac, seizing 20kg of a substance alleged to be methylamphetamine and arresting a 26-year-old man.

It will be alleged the vehicle was travelling to Queensland.

MOCS Acting Detective Senior Sergeant Nigel Bull says these results are the culmination of extensive collaborative investigations by Queensland and New South Wales police.

"We will continue to target criminal networks and dismantle syndicates to take these harmful and prohibited drugs off our streets," Acting Detective Senior Sergeant Bull said.

"We urge anyone with information in regards to drugs in our community to come forward."
