Drug operation closure in Townsville, QLD

Officers from Major and Organised Crime Squad (Northern), State Crime Command have charged two people with 25 offences following the closure of a drug operation in Townsville yesterday, Queensland Police say.

Search warrants were executed at a residence and a business in Townsville as part of Operation Papa Ire, targeting the production and distribution of methylamphetamine in North Queensland.

It will be alleged during a search of the locations officers located approximately 250 grams of methylamphetamine as well as a quantity of cocaine and more than $66,000 in cash.

Police will further allege they located two illicit laboratory sites, a loaded shotgun, two tasers and a large quantity of items of equipment and chemicals used in the production of methylamphetamine.

A 40-year-old man and a 38-year-old woman from Gulliver have been charged with offences including the trafficking and production of dangerous drugs, possession of dangerous drugs and weapon offences.

They are both due to appear in Townsville Magistrates Court today.
