Drugs and firearm located after vehicle stop, NSW

Officers are investigating after a vehicle stop in the Lake Macquarie region during which drugs and a firearm were located, NSW Police say.

About 2am today, police were patrolling Dunbar Avenue, Cameron Park, when they stopped a Mitsubishi Lancer to speak to the driver.

Police searched the vehicle and allegedly located drugs, believed to be ICE, a laser pointer, ammunition and a shortened shotgun.

The items were seized and will undergo forensic examination.

The driver, a 41-year-old man was arrested and later released pending further inquiries.

His three passengers, two males aged 19 and 20, and a woman, aged 17 were released without charge.

Inquiries are continuing.
