A man has been charged after drugs and weapons were seized following a vehicle stop on the state’s north coast yesterday.
About 4.45pm (Wednesday 1 July 2020), officers from Coffs/Clarence Highway Patrol were conducting stationary random breath tests on Hogbin Drive, Coffs Harbour, when they stopped a Kia sedan.
Checks on the driver, a 37-year-old Coffs Harbour man, revealed he was disqualified from driving until 2026, and was arrested as a result.
During a subsequent search of the vehicle, officers seized a metal baton, pocket knife, hunting knife, methylamphetamine, cannabis and cash. They will undergo forensic examination.
The man was taken to Coffs Harbour Police Station and charged with drive motor vehicle during disqualification period (second offence) and possess prohibited drug.
He was refused bail and appeared before Coffs Harbour Local Court today (Thursday 2 July 2020), where he was granted conditional bail to reappear before the same court on Monday 17 August 2020.
Inquiries are continuing in relation to the prohibited items located in the vehicle.
