Drunk behind wheel in Wheelers Hill

A woman allegedly caught drink-driving with drugs in her vehicle has been arrested and had her car impounded following an incident in Wheelers Hill on 2 May.

Police spotted a Honda Civic allegedly travelling with no headlights on and drifting across lanes on Wellington Road about 11.45pm.

Officers attempted to intercept, however the vehicle failed to stop.

The car continued travelling onto Wellington Road and was intercepted at the corner of Jells Road.

Police searched the vehicle, allegedly locating a quantity of ice.

The driver, a 50-year-old woman from St Albans, refused to undergo a preliminary breath test and was arrested at the scene.

She was charged with possess drug of dependence (methyl amphetamine), hinder police, being drunk in a public place, disqualified driving and commit indictable offence while on bail.

Her car was also impounded at a cost of $950.

The woman has been remanded to re- appear at Ringwood Magistrates' Court on 22 May.
