Dungog Council Chair Appointed to Audit, Risk, and Improvement Committee

Dungog Shire Council is seeking expressions of interest to Chair its newly created independent Audit, Risk and Improvement Committee.

The function of this committee is to help guide and support Council in minimising its risk exposure, governance compliance, financial management, fraud control and service reviews, and to help foster an organisational culture of risk management and continuous improvement.

Council is calling on submissions for the Committee Chair and two independent member positions, who will be appointed for a term of four years (until 2027).

Council is focused on building a positive risk environment. The committee will offer independent review and strategic advice for all manner of Council activities and reporting obligations. The committee's remit is to support and advise Council's governance and risk management processes, to provide advice around instilling a robust, effective and sustainable risk-based internal audit and compliance monitoring program, in keeping with NSW Government guidelines.

A sound understanding of corporate governance, public administration, risk management and related government functions, combined with demonstrated experience in strategic implementation is essential for prospective committee members.
