Duo Arrested In Moonee Ponds

Moonee Ponds police arrested a man and woman in an allegedly stolen car in a carpark late last night.

Officers were patrolling a licensed premises on Maribyrnong Road when they observed the allegedly stolen Toyota Corolla about 11.40pm.

As police approached the vehicle it is alleged the female driver reversed colliding with an unoccupied vehicle causing minor damage.

Police placed a vehicle immobiliser devise (VID) under one of the tyres successfully impacting the front driver's wheel and the pair were swiftly arrested.

During a search of the vehicle officers located and seized drugs, cash, a taser, an automotive diagnostic device (autel device) and multiple sets of car keys.

A 34-year-old Footscray West woman was charged with possess a drug of dependence, weapon offences and other related offences.

She was released pending summons to appear at court at a later date.

A 49-year-old Footscray man was charged with traffic and possess a drug of dependence, theft of motor and other related offences.

He was bailed to Melbourne Magistrate's Court on 17 July.

It is alleged the Toyota was stolen from Ascot Vale on 10 December.
