Early Morning Surprise: Sale Man Wins $1.7 Million

In the serene town of Sale, a man's heart raced as he woke his wife early on a Sunday morning to share the exhilarating news: they had won a whopping $1.7 million in the weekend's Saturday Lotto.

The couple from Gippsland held one of the three division one winning tickets for draw 4401, which took place on Saturday, 23 September 2023, and secured a life-altering prize of $1,720,294.16.

Despite learning about their colossal win on Sunday morning, the couple's minds were still grappling with the reality of their fortune.

“Woo-hoo! Wow!” the jubilant husband exclaimed.

“How do we feel? Incredibly awesome! On top of the world! This is life-changing for us. We’ve had to stop each other’s thoughts from running wild.”

Recounting the early morning discovery, the ecstatic wife said, “He came in at 6.10am on Sunday morning and woke me up in a frenzy. He told me we had won $1.7 million, but he thought it was some sort of scam. I also thought he was joking but then we looked into it together and realised it was real."

With such a significant amount set to enhance their bank balance and future, the Victorians are eager to relish their newfound financial freedom.

"Honestly, we don’t know exactly what we want to do with the prize, but we look forward to living life with a bit of ease. We’ve worked hard our whole lives," the wife shared.

"We will keep this win to ourselves as we live in a small town, but that makes it extra special."

The couple's winning 50-game QuickPick ticket was bought at Raymond Street Lotto, located at 189 Raymond Street, Sale, Victoria.

Angela Harry, the manager of Raymond Street Lotto, expressed her joy and pride, saying "we couldn’t be happier for our local winners".

The winning numbers for the Saturday Lotto draw 4401 were 13, 16, 21, 29, 45, and 4, with 11 and 6 as the supplementary numbers.

Nationally, draw 4401 produced three division one winners - two from Victoria and one from New South Wales.
