The Victorian Government is continuing work on the North East Link (NEL) project. As the work progresses, there will be disruptions to the Eastern Freeway and nearby roads. We encourage you to:
- check for the latest updates on Victoria's Big Build website
- plan ahead during closures
- seek alternative routes and allow extra time.
Eastern Freeway weekend closure
From 10 pm Friday 19 June to 5 am Monday 22 June, the Eastern Freeway will be closed in both directions between the Chandler Highway and Tram Road.
During closure:
- Delays of up to 90 minutes are expected during peak times and motorists are encouraged to avoid the area.
- If you are travelling citybound, detour via Tram Road, Doncaster Road, High Street and Studley Park Road.
- If you are travelling Ringwood-bound, detour via Earl Street, High Street, Doncaster Road and Tram Road.
- Thompsons Road will be closed between Bulleen Road and Thompsons Road Ringwood-bound entry ramp, with detours in place.
If you are travelling to the city or airport, consider using alternative arterials, including the Monash Freeway or the M80.
Bulleen Road citybound entry ramp
From 10 pm Friday 19 June to 5 am Tuesday 30 June, the Bulleen Road citybound entry ramp to the Eastern Freeway will be closed.
During closure:
Delays of up to 20 minutes are expected during peak times.
If you are travelling northbound, detour via Eastern Freeway Ringwood-bound, Doncaster Road and Eastern Freeway citybound.
If you are travelling southbound, detour via Bulleen Road, Doncaster Road and Burke Road.
