Victorian company, Ego Pharmaceuticals has unveiled a decade-long manufacturing expansion that will double production capacity and create 90 new jobs.
The $156 million investment centres on Ego's new state-of-the-art Zorzi Innovation Centre (ZInC) at its Braeside facility, alongside the Green Core sustainability project, a new cream filling line, and expanded warehouse capacity — developments that position the company to capitalise on the growing global shift toward locally-source, science-backed skincare products.
The expansion will enable Ego to scale from its current 33 million units annually to meet growing international demand for Australian-made skincare products, particularly in Asian markets where "made in Australia" carries premium positioning.
In 2024, Ego's flagship QV brand held the number one position across both pharmacy and major supermarket channels nationwide with sales exceeding $133 million.
"We're incredibly proud to officially open these new facilities, which represent a major step forward not just for Ego Pharmaceuticals, but for Australian manufacturing more broadly," said Ego Pharmaceuticals Managing Director, Alan Oppenheim AM in the company's media release about the expansion.
As consumer preferences increasingly favour brands with transparent supply chains and local manufacturing credentials, Ego's investment positions Australia as a premium skincare manufacturing hub.
Having already reduced carbon emissions by 32% since 2019, the company's commitment to environmental responsibility aligns with growing consumer demand for sustainable manufacturing practices, and gives Australian-made products a competitive edge in environmentally conscious markets.
The Victorian Government highlighted the strategic importance of the investment, noting that support for companies like Ego creates local jobs, boosts exports, and strengthens the economy.
