Eighth person charged over fatal assault at Doonside

A man will appear in court today, charged as part of the ongoing investigation into the murder of a teenage boy in Sydney's west in August.

About 5.40pm on Wednesday 4 August 2021, a 16-year-old boy was found unresponsive with injuries to his head and chest at a home on Perigee Close, Doonside. He was taken to Westmead Hospital, where he later died.

Strike Force Brens was established to investigate the fatal assault and one man, aged 29, four boys, aged 14, 15 and two aged 13, as well as a 15-year-old girl and 19-year-old woman, have since been charged and remain before the courts.

Following further inquiries, detectives from Blacktown Police Area Command arrested a 32-year-old man at a correctional centre in Silverwater about 9am yesterday (Thursday 21 October 2021).

He was charged with murder, cause grievous bodily harm to person with intent, and take/detain in company with intent to get advantage occasion actual bodily harm.

The man was remanded in custody to appear at Blacktown Local Court today (Friday 22 October 2021).

Investigations under Strike Force Brens are continuing.
