Elderly woman injured in house fire in Saratoga

A woman has been injured following a house fire on the Central Coast overnight, NSW Police say.

Just after 2am today, emergency services were called to a home on Mimosa Avenue, Saratoga, following reports of a house fire.

Police were told a neighbour attempted to enter the home after he noticed the resident – a 93-year-old woman – hadn’t evacuated, but he was overcome by smoke and unable to raise her.

Fire fighters from Fire & Rescue NSW arrived a short time later and the fire was extinguished.

The woman was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Gosford Hospital for treatment of burns to her face and legs.

A crime scene has been established, and is being examined by specialist forensic officers today.

Initial inquiries suggest the fire is not suspicious.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
