Elf in Shelf competition offers shoppers chance to win a prize this Christmas

Orange shoppers have the chance to win one of five $50 Shop Orange vouchers in the week before Christmas through the Elf in the Shelf competition.

Elf in the Shelf is being held by the Youth Action Council, part of Orange City Council's Youth Services, in conjunction with the Orange Business Chamber, to encourage people to support local businesses, while offering people the chance to have a bit of fun when they do their Christmas shopping.

All shoppers have to do to enter is spot the Elf in a participating Orange store, fill in the form or submit an entry via the Orange City Council website to go in the draw.

Orange mayor Reg Kidd said the promotion was a fun way to encourage people to shop locally this Christmas.

"Our city has a great range of stores and supporting local retail business has never been more important, with so many feeling the impact of COVID-19 throughout the year," Cr Kidd said.

"By spending your money in Orange, you're supporting local people and you have the chance to win a prize as well."

Orange Business Chamber president Jack Evans said the promotion was one the whole family could enjoy and he hoped it would encourage more younger buyers to shop locally.

"I look forward to bringing younger families to shop in town as their children enjoy searching for the Elf," he said.

Participating stores will have an Elf in the Shelf poster in their window and entry forms will be available in-store.

Entry forms can be dropped off at Orange City Council, 135 Byng Street, or entries can be submitted online.
