Eltham Bowls Club officially opened its new lighting on Friday 24 April, celebrating a significant upgrade that will help increase participation at the club.

The opening was attended by The Hon. Vicki Ward MP, Member for Eltham, representing The Hon. Ros Spence MP, Minister for Community Sport, along with Ward Councillor John Dumaresq and Tom Ridi, President of Eltham Bowls Club.

Mayor Cr Noami Joiner said the project was an important investment in local sport and community connection.

"This upgrade strengthens Eltham Bowls Club's ability to support its members and welcome more people into the sport," Cr Joiner said.

Councillor John Dumaresq said the improved lighting means an increased opportunity to play bowls, provides more flexibility for training and allows for Friday night pennant.

The project was delivered by Council in partnership with the Victorian Government, with $140,177 secured through the 2024-25 Local Sports Infrastructure Fund.

Works include the installation of new lighting poles across both bowling greens and energy‑efficient LED fittings.
