Emergency crews responding to fatal house fire - Busby

A man has died following a house fire in Sydney's south-west overnight.

Emergency services were called to a home on Coonong Street, Busby, about 8.30pm (Monday 18 April 2022), after reports of a fire.

Fire and Rescue NSW attended and forced entry to the home, locating the sole occupant deceased inside. The 84-year-old man is yet to be formally identified.

The blaze was extinguished; however, the home was significantly damaged.

Officers from Liverpool Police Area Command have established a crime scene, which will be examined by specialist forensic police.

An investigation is underway into the cause of the fire and a report will be prepared for the Coroner.
