Emergency crews responding to fatal house fire - Albury

Police and firefighters remain at the scene of a fatal house fire in the state's Murray River region.

About 1.15am (Sunday 23 June 2019), officers from Murray River Police District were patrolling, when they drove upon a house fire on Kestrel Street, North Albury.

Fire & Rescue NSW attended and extinguished the blaze, but the house suffered extensive damage.

A body was located inside the house, which is yet to be formally identified.

Officers have established a crime scene and the cause of the fire is yet to be determined.

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
