Emergency crews responding to fire - 17 Elizabeth Street Launceston - Deemed Suspicious

Police are investigating a deliberately lit fire at the rear of 17 Elizabeth Street Launceston which occurred in the early hours of this morning, 3rd March 2019.

The Tasmania Fire Service responded to the fire in Elizabeth Street Launceston at around 06:20am and were confronted by a fire which had engulfed a vehicle at the rear of the residence, and had set alight to a car port and the adjoining external walls of the residence. No occupants were present at the time of the fire and no injuries were sustained.

Tasmania Fire Service contained the fire and limited any further damage to the residence. It is estimated the damage caused by the fire to be $100,000.

Tasmania Fire Service conducted a fire investigation this morning and determined the fire was deliberately lit.
