Hundreds of vulnerable people living in the City of Swan will have access to food and essential items during the Coronavirus pandemic thanks to a new partnership.
Midlas, a Midland-based community organisation, has partnered with Foodbank and the City of Swan to coordinate the biggest emergency food and essential supply delivery ever conducted in the City.
Midlas CEO Sarah Patterson said food for more than 300 people had been secured from Foodbank and Midlas, as well as nappies, formula, shampoo and conditioner and sanitary items.
"At periods like this, there is no time to waste," Ms Patterson said.
"We needed consolidated, coordinated action for our most vulnerable community to ensure no one is left without food and essential items during the current social distancing measures.
"Through our long-running partnerships with Foodbank, we have been able to again work together to support people in need, when they need it.
"Midlas is proud to be at the forefront of this in our local community, working with the City of Swan and Foodbank.
"It is in the darkest of times that community bands together and people show kindness, compassion and resilience."
The City of Swan is repurposing some staff whose roles have been affected by COVID-19 to deliver the items to the doors of people who cannot leave their homes.
Mayor Kevin Bailey said the City of Swan was proud to be part of the biggest emergency food and essential supply delivery ever conducted in the City.
"It is critical that we as a community do everything we can to support those in need during this incredibly difficult and unprecedented time," Mr Bailey said.
"This initiative exemplifies the very best of our resilient and supportive community, and shows what we can do when we all come together to help each other.

Foodbank CEO Greg Hebble said their mission was to continue to provide a reliable source of food and groceries to charity partners such as Midlas, to assist the most vulnerable members of our community through this challenging time.
"We're proud to be partnering with Midlas and the City of Swan on this innovative approach which will help ensure that the most vulnerable residents are getting access to the essentials that they need at home," Mr Hebble said.
Midlas is also offering free financial counselling, bill relief, advocacy for people whose tenancy is at risk, advocacy support for people with a disability, and a free Family Law service to support people who are at risk of Family Violence during COVID-19 quarantine or isolation.
