Firefighters and Police are on the scene at O'Sullivan Road, Glen Waverley responding to a gas leak.
Workers cutting through a concrete slab in Glenway Arcade (the site of the Galleria Apartments) ruptured a high pressure gas main this morning.
Firefighters are dispersing the gas with water sprays and monitoring gas levels while they work to remove the concrete and access the gas main.
Workers and patrons of surrounding businesses have been evacuated as a precaution.
Victoria Police will remain on scene to coordinate evacuations and traffic control.
People are advised to avoid the area.
