End of 2021 to 2022 lifeguard patrol season

Port Stephen

After a rather wet year, the 2021 to 2022 Australian Lifeguard Services patrol season including volunteer and professional lifeguard services ended on Monday 25 April 2022 at Fingal, One Mile and Birubi beaches.

Lifeguard Season ends for 2022

This summer was one of the wettest we've had in years and due to rainfall and subsequent flooding the 2021 to 2022 season had over 200 hours of beach closures.

Despite this, the season ended with 656,537 attendances, 50 rescues, 266 first aids and 58,809 preventative actions, with no major incidents or drownings reported.

Council is currently preparing a tender for the 2022 to 2023 surf contract, with services resuming in September 2022. Until then, there'll be no off-season service operating.

The 2022 to 2022 season begins on Saturday 17 September 2022 and will end on Tuesday 25 April 2023.
