Cessnock City Council has developed a process to allow elderly and disabled residents to dispose of their bulky waste using their waste vouchers and contractors to transport.
Approved businesses will be able to dispose of the waste at the Cessnock Waste Management Centre, on behalf of the resident, using their household's waste voucher.
Cessnock City Mayor, Cr Bob Pynsent welcomed the change that will enable better access to waste disposal for our most vulnerable residents.
"Council already offers a service for residents who are disabled or elderly, our drivers jump out of the truck and bring their bins to the kerb, empty them and pop them back. This additional process in place ensures these residents can get the most out of their annual vouchers."
Council is currently calling for businesses interested in registering for this work to fill out an online application form. Applications are open Wednesday 1 September and businesses must have an ABN.
Residents will have the opportunity to apply from Monday 20 September and nominate a business from the approved list. For more information visit Council's website.
