Entertainment gets boost in Gladstone

Kempsey Shire Council

Gladstone Memorial Park

Years of hard work and determination by the Gladstone Market Committee will see a community pavilion constructed providing a large undercover function area that residents and visitors from near and far can enjoy.

The Gladstone Market Committee were successful in their grant application for the NSW Government's Community Building Partnership funding to assist their fundraising campaign for the Gladstone Bandstand project, which will see the permanent community fixture constructed in Memorial Park.

The inclusive and multi-purpose pavilion will diversify the use of Memorial Park offering a platform to host staged events while also acting as a sheltered place to enjoy a picnic and complementing the barbeque and playground facilities within the park.

The bandstand will also broaden the horizon for community events such as the Gladstone Quality Markets providing opportunities for performers to entertain on a stage and delivering economic benefits as the markets are a major drawcard in attracting residents and visitors to the area.

Kempsey Shire Council will remove the ageing barbeque shelter and has temporarily relocated the underground electricity at Memorial Park to make way for construction of the pavilion which the Gladstone Market Committee expects to begin later this month.

The NSW Government's Community Building Partnership invests in infrastructure projects that deliver positive social, environmental, and recreational outcomes while promoting community participation, inclusion and cohesion.
