Entries open for 2021 Portrait of Senior Territorian Art Award

One of the Territory's most prestigious art awards is gearing up for another bumper year with artists urged to celebrate the achievements and contributions of our seniors.

Entries for the Portrait of a Senior Territorian Art Award are now open with winners to be announced at the exhibition opening at Parliament House on 6 December.

Now in its 23rd year, the award has a prize pool of $10,500 including $7000 for the winning portrait which will be acquired by the Northern Territory Government. There is also a $1000 prize for a people's choice award.

Judging criteria includes:

· technical expertise;

· originality;

· effectiveness in capturing the personality of the subject;

· effectiveness in capturing the Territory's identity, culture and history; and

· contribution to the legacy of NT art and the Portrait of a Senior Territorian.
