EPA to advise farmers at this year's Farm World Expo, Lardner Park

Recognised as one of Victoria's premier regional agricultural shows, Farm World provides a platform to showcase the best of agribusiness, the latest technology, equipment and information and provides an ideal opportunity to get up close and chat with the experts.

The 2019 Farm World theme is "Love your Farmer" and Environment Protection Authority Victoria (EPA) officers will attend this year's Expo at Lardner Park in Baw Baw Shire, to provide first hand advice on environmental compliance issues and farming, especially as the new Environment Protection Act is being shaped to come into effect in 2020.

EPA is keen to meet and speak to farmers and farming advisors about what information they need to help manage impacts to the environment from their operations and understand their environmental obligations.

"We're looking forward to meeting as many people from the sector as possible at this great event. Come visit us at stand F5," said EPA Gippsland Regional Manager Stephen Lansdell.

"EPA's Gippsland officers work particularly closely with the farming industry, and dairies in particular as an important part of the region. The Victorian dairy industry is responsible for a third of all Australian milk supply, more than 80 per cent of Australia's processed dairy products and 90 per cent of dairy exports. Victoria has more than 5000 dairy farms and approximately a million dairy cows.

"Ensuring a viable future for the Victorian dairy industry means producing milk in a sustainable, lawful and safe way.

"The farming industry, like all industries, faces challenges, but ensuring they can operate within environmental regulations is crucial, and gaining an understanding of the new laws will help them remain compliant," said EPA Gippsland Regional Manager Stephen Lansdell.
