EPA to hold ag industry information session on 3 March

Victorian farmers will not face new barriers over their use of onfarm manure under the new environment protection laws.

EPA will hold an online meeting at 10am on Wednesday 3 March to address recent misunderstanding about the new Act and how it approaches onfarm manure. For instance, animal manure has been classified as industrial waste since 1971 under existing legislation and continues with an identical description of industrial waste in the new legislation.

EPA is continuing to work with the sector and their representative groups to determine the best approaches to ensure they do not face unnecessary paperwork in their use of manure but still protecting the environment and making it possible for the regulator to enforce environmental laws if there has been mismanagement leading to pollution.

EPA is keen that industry members join the online public session on Wednesday 3 March. Details and how to sign in click here

EPA has also published guidance to help industry prepare for new waste duties including a new Frequently Asked Questions section, click here under 'supporting material'.
