Epic Easter Fun: April School Holiday Guide Out

An epic Easter school break awaits those keen to stay busy over the next two weeks, with Townsville City Council's April School Holiday Guide on hand to deliver all the fun needed to fuel young imaginations.

From circus workshops and art day camps through to barefoot bowls and kid-friendly first aid courses, this April 2026 edition of the guide is packed to the brim.

Townsville Mayor Nick Dametto said parents would not be disappointed by the 32-page online publication, which he described as the ultimate boredom-buster.

"This guide is published by Council every school holidays, and we consider it a bit of a community service for local parents who we know will be battling the constant complaints of 'I'm bored' during this time," Cr Dametto said.

"On top of that, it is always a great opportunity for our local clubs, organisations and businesses to showcase their activities and get the word out there about what they're all about.

"Our local Citylibraries also runs its School Holiday Program during the break, so make sure you check out the guide to see what free and fun activities there will be on offer at these three facilities.

"It all kicks off after the Easter long weekend, so jump online to download the guide so you can be prepared and make the most of the break with the kids."

Deputy Mayor Suzy Batkovic said the Citylibraries team had created a jam-packed program to keep kids busy and parents happy over the break.

"Our Citylibraries School Holiday Program is all about fun, creativity and building a love of learning," Cr Batkovic said.

"With plenty of free activities on offer, it's the perfect reason to get out of the house, visit one of our three libraries and explore new interests, learn new skills and make memories together."
