Escape from custody at Gatton

Police have located and arrested a man who escaped lawful custody in Gatton today.

Around 12.30pm, the man was being returned to Gatton Watchhouse after attending court when he fled.

He then jumped into a woman's car and demanded she drive him to Helidon where she dropped him off.

Police, the dog squad and Polair participated in the search and located the 25-year-old man at an address in Placid Hills where he was taken into custody.

He is expected to be charged overnight.
