Escapee captured at Singleton

A man wanted on outstanding warrants has been captured after escaping from police custody in Singleton this week.

The 26-year-old man escaped from police custody at Singleton Police Station, about 2.30pm on Wednesday (22 May 2019).

Following an extensive search operation involving officers from Hunter Valley Police District, PolAir, and the Dog Unit, the 26-year-old man was found at a Muswellbrook hotel just after 6pm yesterday (Friday 24 May 2019).

He and a 25-year-old woman were arrested without incident and taken to Muswellbrook Police Station.

The woman was released as inquiries continue.

The man was charged with the outstanding warrants, and escape police custody, and refused bail to appear at Wyong Bail Court today (Saturday 25 May 2019).
