Escapee from police custody caught at Werrington, NSW

A man, who escaped police custody at Miranda, has been arrested at a house in Werrington this afternoon today, NSW Police say.

It will be alleged the man escaped police custody at Miranda on Sunday 16 July 2017.

Strike Force Walpa, comprising officers from Miranda, Canobolas, Chifley and St Marys local area commands, have been conducting inquiries to locate the man.

The 31-year-old was arrested at a house in Albert Street Werrington and taken to Penrith Police Station

He was charged with aggravated break, enter and steal, break, enter and steal (x3), escape police custody, possess house breaking implements, assault police, resist arrest, custody of knife in public place and the revocation of parole warrant

The 31-year-old man was refused bail and will appear in Parramatta Bail Court tomorrow.

An internal investigation is being conducted into the events leading up to the man's escape.
