Estimates to expose Liberal waste, cuts and integrity failures
This week's Budget Estimates hearings will put a spotlight on 13 years of Liberal waste, cuts and chaos.
The Liberals' Budget includes $1.5 billion in cuts, including almost $700 million from Health and cuts to Education, while Tasmanians are already dealing with hospitals under pressure, overcrowded classrooms and rising cost of living pressures.
Labor will use Estimates to force the Government to explain where these cuts will fall, which services will be reduced, which projects will be delayed, and how many jobs will be cut.
Labor will also use Estimates to get to the bottom of the legal fees scandal. After Madeleine Ogilvie misled Parliament and quit Cabinet, Premier Rockliff needs to explain what he knew, when he knew it, and why his Government watched on while she continued to mislead parliament.
Tasmanians also deserve transparency on legal fees for Jane Howlett MP and Mark Shelton MP, who signed off on it, and what the bills were for.
After 13 years of Liberal waste, Tasmanians deserve transparency, accountability and a Government focused on the issues affecting their lives instead of managing its own chaos.
