The European Commission invites organisations across the EU to host the next generation of Europe Direct centres. These centres are the EU's local voice. On behalf of the European Commission, they answer citizens' questions on any EU-related matter, and explain what the EU does, and how it affects citizens' everyday lives. The centres also organise local events, share facts and figures with local organisations, and gather feedback from the public to ensure EU policies address people's needs. To make sure that everyone's voice can be heard, Europe Direct centres are active in each Member State.
The Commission is looking for new partners to continue the mission of the Europe Direct centres: enthusiastic, community-connected organisations with experience in outreach and communication. This includes public institutions, non-profits, civil society organisations, associations, social partners, academic institutions, and others.
A new call for proposals for interested organisations is open on the EU Funding & Tenders Portal for the period 2026–2030.
Full details, including eligibility criteria, funding conditions and application guidelines, are available here . The Commission Representation pages also offer additional information on the call in each Member States,
Background
Around 400 Europe Direct centres are spread all across the EU . In 2023 they replied to 168 324 questions. The largest number of questions concerned individual rights and opportunities offered by the EU, such as freedom of movement, consumer rights, passengers' rights, rights of residence, job opportunities, social protection in other EU countries as well as EU grants
Europe Direct centres are well connected with local communities (e.g. civil society associations, local networks, local media, schools, libraries, youth centres, business associations, local influencers, other EU outreach centres, etc.), know the topics of interest and sensitivities in their area, are experienced in communication and have the capacity to connect to citizens and engage in a dialogue about the European Union and its benefits at local level.
