Events Recovery Funding Grants extended at Mildura

Mildura Rural City Council has extended its Events Recovery Funding Grants program by six months to January next year.

The extension follows the more stable events environment in recent months following the lack of lengthy COVID-19 restrictions.

Councillor for Events and Recreation Liam Wood said that up until the most recent snap lockdown this has provided event organisers with the confidence to once again plan events.

"To help support this renewed confidence as much as possible we've extended our Events Recovery Funding Grants program, which was scheduled to close on 11 June," Cr Wood said.

"While we may have experienced a dip with the snap lockdown in late May/early June, the continued rollout of COVID-19 vaccines and the lack of lengthy lockdowns since last year has injected our community and our event organisers with a renewed sense of confidence."

Applications are open until January next year for events held prior to 30 June 2022, or until the grants fund has been exhausted.

The Events Recovery Grants program was created to help reinvigorate the region's events calendar, stimulate the local economy and support locals and visitors by providing entertainment options within COVID-19 restrictions, allowing the community to reconnect.

There are three grant categories, with a maximum of four grants per organisation.

Small Community Events
