Ex-Tropical Cyclone Kimi – final update

Cyclone Kimi has weakened to a tropical low. Significant impacts on the coast are no longer expected, although heavy rainfall remains a possibility with the potential to produce flash flooding and major river flooding in coastal areas between Innisfail and Bowen on Tuesday and Wednesday if the remnant low moves closer to the coast.

The following are the campus closure notices:

Tuesday 19 January

All campuses including those in Townsville are OPEN. We appreciate your patience if there are minor disruptions to activity in Townsville early this morning.

The Orpheus Island Research Station remains closed at this point.

Please ensure you continue to monitor the weather situation and when driving, if its flooded, forget it.

No further updates are expected to be issued for Ex-Tropical Cyclone Kimi.
