Exercise MAPLE RESOLVE 19: Canadians and Allies train for complexities of modern conflict

Media are invited to view the Canadian Army's largest annual exercise at 3rd Canadian Division Support Base Detachment Wainwright on May 14, 2019.

Approximately 5,500 soldiers from Canada, France, United Kingdom and the United States will participate in this exercise. The exercise is centered on 1 Canadian Mechanized Brigade Group as it prepares to assume the duties of the high-readiness brigade.

When: Tuesday, May 14, 2019 at 8:30 a.m. (MST). Weather permitting, air transportation will be available from Edmonton International Airport to Exercise MAPLE RESOLVE and back again for a limited number of media. Transportation will depart at 07:00 a.m. (MST) and return at 4:50 p.m. (MST).

Where: Main Gate. 3 CDSB Det Wainwright. Denwood, Alberta

What: Exercise MAPLE RESOLVE 19 is a proving ground for soldiers in the contemporary operating environment. During the exercise, soldiers will test their ability to integrate with Allies and other government departments as they hone their warfighting skills within a realistic, complex and demanding environment.

The exercise aims to challenge soldiers in an environment that closely models modern conflict, complete with simulated villages populated with professional actors, simulated media and social media environments. Media will have an opportunity to interview Canadian Armed Forces personnel, partners and allies.
