Expect better commuter carpark at Bowral Station

Wingecarribee Shire

Commute regularly from Bowral Station Carpark? You can soon expect a better experience. Council will commence upgrades to the commuter carpark, on behalf of Transport for NSW (TfNSW), from Monday 17 April. "Weather permitting, we hope to re-open the improved computer carpark within four weeks, by May 15," says Manager Project Delivery, Ned Tripkovic.

The commuter carpark is a TfNSW owned asset. A collaboration has been brokered, whereby Wingecarribee Shire Council will undertake the works, because our crews are already onsite.

The improvements are therefore fully State funded. To allow for reconstruction, TfNSW will need to temporarily close the carpark, for around 4 weeks. Council appreciates the understanding of community members and retailers while we complete the necessary works.

A key transport hub for hundreds of commuters each day, Bowral station has connected the Southern Highlands with Sydney for 150 years. Our collaboration with TfNSW has directed $608,000 in State funding toward a local project with significant benefits for our Shire. "In addition, we will receive further funds to manage coal tar and improve drainage," Ned says.

Please ensure that vehicles are moved from the carpark no later than close of business Friday 14 April and plan ahead for the changed conditions by familiarising yourself with new, interim bus stops and parking: https://www.wsc.nsw.gov.au/project-directory/station-street-renewal.
