Residents are invited to celebrate and explore the City of Melton's diverse and rich history during this year's Heritage Festival.

A highlight of the program will see the community celebrate 40 years of the Melton RSL at the Melton Library & Learning Hub on Monday 27 April from 1pm to 2pm, exploring the organisation's journey from humble beginnings to the thriving community hub it is today.

History lovers can also explore the historic Rockbank Inn ruins during an open day on Saturday 2 May from 10am to 1pm and join a walking tour to learn about the fascinating relics discovered at the site.

On Saturday 9 May from 1pm to 2pm, author and history podcaster Michael Adams will present Crashes, Chases and Crooks in Melton History at the Melton Library & Learning Hub, sharing intriguing local stories from Melton's past.

Young history buffs can also join in, with special Preschool Storytimes and After Schooligans sessions running at Council libraries throughout the Heritage Festival.
