Do you have an interest in running workshops that inspire people to repair, reuse or upcycle?

Byron Shire Council is seeking expressions of interest from skilled individuals, community groups and organisations to deliver hands-on workshops at the Re-Market (Tip Shop), located at the Byron Resource Recovery Centre, Myocum.

"We're looking for creative and practical workshop ideas that help people repair, repurpose and upcycle everyday items, giving them a second life instead of sending them to landfill," Emily Oulton, Resource Recovery Education and Engagement Projects Officer said.

These workshops will help community members develop valuable skills, champion repair and reuse, upcycle and make smarter waste choices that reduce landfill. Supporting a more sustainable circular future.

"Council recognises the fantastic work already being undertaken in the community to promote repair and reuse.

Through the Re-Market (Tip Shop) workshop program, Council hopes to support and showcase these local skills and initiatives, helping to build a more community based circular economy where valuable products and materials are kept in use for longer and waste is avoided," said Ms Oulton.

Whether it's repairing broken items, transforming unwanted materials into something new, sharing practical skills or exploring creative ways to extend the life of everyday objects, we'd welcome your ideas," Ms Oulton said.

If you have a skill, trade or creative practice that promotes resource recovery, upcycling and sustainable circular solutions, we'd love to hear from you.
