We are pleased to announce that many temporary outdoor dining spaces currently in place across our local shopping centres will stay in place until Wednesday 30 June 2021.
These spaces include some parklets installed in:
- Ashburton
- Auburn
- Camberwell
- Glenferrie.
We are also extending all footpath and public space trading permits so businesses can continue to make use of additional dining spaces in a COVIDSafe manner. This means community members can continue to dine alfresco in our vibrant local shopping centres.
Enabling outdoor dining has played an important role in encouraging foot traffic back into local shopping centres. It has benefited not only Boroondara's hospitality businesses, but other businesses as well.
The extension from the original end date of Wednesday 31 March 2021 comes as a result of our parklet usage audit and feedback from the community and traders.
Parklets not being utilised, and those not being extended due to traffic and parking considerations, will be converted back to parking bays between Sunday 28 March and Thursday 1 April 2021.
