Extradition of OMCG member

Detectives from Taskforce Maxima have today travelled to Darwin and successfully applied for the extradition of a 28-year-old man to Queensland.

The man, a patched member of the Saturdarah Outlaw Motorcycle Gang ('OMCG'), was arrested in Katherine on March 23 by Northern Territory Police on a return to prison warrant.

He was conveyed to Darwin where extradition was granted by the Darwin Magistrates Court.

The man had previously been convicted in the Southport Magistrates Court on a range of offences and sentenced to 15 months imprisonment before being released on court ordered parole.

Detective Inspector Glen Donaldson said the Queensland Police Service will continue to work with other government agencies to target outlaw motorcycle gangs.

"This arrest highlights the commitment of the Queensland Police Service and Queensland Corrective Services in continuing to protect the community by enforcing breaches of the law committed by members of outlaw motorcycle gangs," he said.
