Family History Centre Merges with Local Services

Kiama Council

Facilities - Kiama Library

Kiama Council is integrating our stand-alone Family History Centre services with our Local History Studies services to create a more streamlined and accessible experience for the community.

As part of this change, the Centre is currently closed while we relocate the local history collection into the existing Family History Centre space. From March 2026, the area will no longer operate as a separate Family History Centre. Instead, it will be open to the public Thursdays from 10am – 12pm, with library staff and volunteers available for specific research requests by appointment.

The Family History Centre has been a valued resource for many years, thanks to the dedication of our casual staff member and 20 passionate volunteers. We sincerely thank them for their incredible contribution and commitment to preserving local heritage.

This service remains an important part of our community, and we look forward to continuing to support local and family history research in a more integrated way.
