Pick up the freshest produce, taste something new and meet local growers at the Boroondara Farmers Market. Some have been selling at the market for 20-plus years. A relative newcomer, Kumi hasn't missed a market day at Patterson Reserve since 2019. 'What I like most is my customers have become my friends,' she says. 'We check in on each other.'
For many, market day means more than just shopping - it's a much-loved ritual with an 8 am start.
Regular visitors know the crowd favourite sourdough can sell out, as can the 'super jumbo' size eggs and popular dry-aged ribeye steaks.
For a more leisurely start, wander with a coffee, grab ready-to-eat options like a gourmet pie, and some freshly made sweets for later. There's live music too and the market is dog-friendly. Stallholder offerings vary week-to-week - and the strong community feel is a constant.
