Police are currently on scene of a fatal car crash in Mernda, Victoria Police say.
It is believed a van was travelling east along Masons Road when it lost control and veered off the road before crashing into a tree about 5pm.
The driver of the vehicle, who is yet to be formally identified, died at the scene.
Three male passengers were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
