Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives are currently on scene investigating a fatal car crash in Wollert this morning, Victoria Police say.
Emergency services were called to Bindts Road south of Bridge Inn Road about 6am after a passer-by located a car crashed into a pole.
A man was located deceased in the rear of the vehicle and he is yet to be identified.
Detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash and believe a number of occupants may have been in the vehicle and fled the scene.
Police are currently searching the surrounding area and are keen to speak to anyone that may have seen any suspicious activity.
