Fatal caravan fire, NSW

Police will prepare a brief for the Coroner after the body of a person was located following a fire at a holiday park on the far south coast, NSW Police say.

Emergency services attended the park at Millingandi, north of Pambula, at 3.35pm today after a caravan at the park caught fire.

Other park residents had attempted to access the van but were forced back by the flames.

The fire spread to another four vans and two cars, causing extensive damage.

The fire was extinguished by officers from Fire & Rescue NSW and the Rural Fire Service, with the body of a person located in the van soon after.

A crime scene has been established while investigations by Far South Coast Local Area Command continue.

At this time, the cause of the fire remains unknown.
