Fatal Collision in Fitzroy North: Police Responding

A man has died following a collision involving a pedestrian in Fitzroy North overnight.

Emergency services were called to St Georges Road near Railway Place following reports a pedestrian had been hit by a car just before 8pm.

The pedestrian, yet to be formally identified, was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries where he later died.

The driver of the car, a 54-year-old Reservoir man, stopped at the scene and has spoken to police.

Melbourne Highway Patrol officers are investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision.
